BPS (SUISSE) is pleased to announce that it became a member of the association Swiss Sustainable Finance (SSF) in March 2020. SSF’s mission is to strengthen Switzerland’s position on the global sustainable finance market by sharing information, raising awareness and promoting the growth of sustainable finance.
By defining and sharing insights on best practices, establishing benchmarks and creating helpful tools, SSF supports and works together with its members to ensure that the Swiss financial industry occupies a leading position in sustainable finance. Set up in 2014, the association has offices in Zurich, Geneva and Lugano. It now has 146 members and partners, including financial service providers, investors, universities and business schools, public bodies and other organisations with an interest in sustainable finance.
Joining SSF is merely a further step in the sustainability project under way at BPS (SUISSE), which we began because we wanted to be able to offer our clients investments that were sustainable yet profitable and that took environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors into account.
We are currently living through an extremely critical phase of climate change, and both end clients and financial market players are growing increasingly conscious of what is going on in the world. This is illustrated by just how much sustainable investments have grown in recent years: one need only consider that, by the end of 2018, the value of ESG investments had risen by 83% or around CHF 720 billion in Switzerland alone (source: SSF).
No longer able to be dismissed merely as a niche idea, sustainability has now become a key issue.
Having launched its first multi-manager ESG mandates in 2019, BPS (SUISSE) is now working to fine-tune its investment process to integrate ESG criteria so that it can further expand the range of products it can offer its clients, both via the sub-funds of Popso (Suisse) Investment Fund SICAV and through its Investment Advisory management mandates and services.
Focusing on sustainability is thus becoming an integral part of the Bank’s strategy of developing increasingly innovative financial products.
