The United States’ decision to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement is a significant breakthrough which will help towards achieving global environmental goals and accelerating the ecological transition. The official objective of the agreement is to keep the average global temperature rise well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels – and preferably less than 1.5 degrees. For those nations that have signed the agreement, this involves making a firm investment in certain areas, primarily renewable resources, electric mobility, the interconnection of networks, energy storage and energy efficiency. At a financial level, this implies an increased focus on finding shares of companies that offer products and solutions that reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency, as well as those that are doing their bit to ensure an effective transition to a future with lower carbon emissions.
